形態特徵

• Normal culms commonly 14 m tall, 1-2.5 cm in diam., sometimes to 10 m tall, 5 cm in diam.; abnormal culms, dwarf, 0.3-1 m tall, 0.5-1.5 cm in diam.; internodes short, swollen; nodes not prominent; walls thin; branches numerous at each node.
• Sheath of culm somewhat flushed with purple when young, glabrous outside; auricles of sheath usually conspicuous, sometimes inconspicuous; convex with brown bristle; ligule of sheath narrow, margins bearing minute hairs; blade of sheath usually triangular. Leaves 5-13, ovate-lanceolate, 10-25 cm long, 1.2-2.5 cm broad, veins 5-9, veinlets 7, pubescent beneath, densely spinulose-scabrous along one margin, sparsely so along other; auricles of leaf conspicuous, with brown bristles; ligule of leaf aristate; sheath of leaf glabrous outside.

• 台灣 : Introduced. Commonly planted as a dwarfed potted or tub plant for ornamental purposes.
